NEWARK, NJ - This existing 124,107 SF building sits on 2.2 acres at the intersection of 18th Avenue and Elizabeth Street. The original structure was built in 1876 and later renovated in 1923. Until the end of the 2012 school year, the building was in use by the Newark Public School System.
The future tenant, TEAM Academy Charter Schools currently has five schools on five campuses in Newark serving students in grades Kindergarten through 12th.
We were brought on board by the Friends of TEAM Academy in the Pre-Construction Phase of this project in order to provide a comprehensive budget, constructability review and value engineering. We have also been selected as the General Contractor to historically restore the facade and historically preserve the "historic fabric" of the school.
When complete the building will accommodate one elementary school and one middle school with an expected student population of 1,000.
