Ellis IslandThe Peopling of America® Center
Ellis Island, NJ-NY

Phelps Construction Group has been chosen by The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. to work with them to complete the construction of The Peopling of America® Center at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. The Peopling of America® Center will expand upon the Ellis Island years of immigration to include the entire panorama of the American experience. How we became Americans, how we made and are still making the journey here, how we created and continue to influence our communities, and how this nation looks forward to building for the future. Phelps Construction Group also completed the pre-construction cost budgeting and the first phase of the new Peopling of America® Center the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. The first phase entailed the necessary hazardous material, environmental cleanup and demolition work required to the New Immigration Building on Ellis Island. This work was required to enable the completion of the design of the new offices for the National Park Service which is being relocated to the New Immigration Building in order to make room for the new museum.

Teachers Village at Four Corners
Newark, NJ

Phelps Construction Group is incredibly proud to participate in the revitalization of the City of Newark, NJ. One of the nation’s major air, shipping, and rail hubs, Newark will soon be home to ‘Teachers Village at Four Corners’-a major urban renewal project housing charter schools, apartments for educators and a new retail corridor. Phelps has been awarded the first project, ‘Building Two’, a four-story 104,000 SF charter school building with first floor retail space. This project is part of Newark’s greater plan to revitalize the city by bringing in new businesses along with 224 housing units to accommodate teachers in an effort to further improve area schools.

Quest Diagnostics
Teterboro, NJ

The global leader in clinical laboratory services, Quest Diagnostics, has awarded Phelps Construction Group the interior renovation of their 225,000 SF US laboratory headquarters located in Teterboro, NJ. Extensive improvements include upgraded lighting, flooring and wall finishes as well as a world-class entrance lobby and reception desk.

Church of St. MaryChurch of St. Mary
Rutherford, NJ

This exciting project awarded through the Arch Diocese of Newark consists of an addition which will house a gathering space and a new elevated entrance plaza. The interior of the church is being extensively renovated including the reconfiguration of the Nave and Sanctuary areas and the addition of new cedar ceilings and marble floors and walls. A new Steeple is also to be added to the church.

Al & John, Inc
West Caldwell, NJ

Al and John, Inc. of Paterson, New Jersey, has hired Phelps Construction Group to complete the construction of their new 200,000 square foot meat processing facility in West Caldwell, New Jersey. Once completed this facility will have over 160,000 square feet of refrigerated food processing area along with a waste water treatment facility, new locker/ bathroom facilities and corporate offices. Al & John is a leading producer of Deli Hams, Turkey, Roast Beef and Sausages branded as Glen Rock Hams and Kohler Products.

St. Joseph’s High School
Montvale, NJ

Saint Joseph’s High School is a private Roman Catholic boys high school on a 33 acre campus owned by the Archdiocese of Newark. This project entails the demolition and renovation of Saint Joseph’s existing Media Center. The work consists of all new interior partitions, ceilings and finishes , along with completely new mechanical electrical systems. New windows will also be installed to the exterior of the building. Construction is to be completed during the summer months, ready for the opening of school in September.

Rutgers Sonny A. Werblin & Livinston Recreation Center
New Brunswick, NJ

The Men’s Shower area at the University’s prestigious aquatics center, a 150,000 square foot facility dedicated to the recreational sports and fitness needs of the student body, will be completely demolished and reconfigured. The existing open shower room which lacked privacy and adequate wheelchair access will be reconfigured into individual shower stalls with full Corian enclosures. Simultaneously, the Men’s Shower area and Men’s and Women’s Bathroom at Livingston Recreation Center will be demolished and re-built using environmentally conscious low-flow shower heads, toilets, hands-free faucets and waterless urinals. The project is to be completed within a challenging four weeks.

Rutgers Hurtado Health Center
New Brunswick, NJ

Complete renovation of the patient check-in and waiting room of the University’s largest health center. This fast-track project was completed on time and included custom maple veneer check-in stations, a rated wall system and natural stone flooring. The new lobby modified the manner in which students entered the facility, insuring better security and a welcoming entrance.

Summit JCCSummit Jewish Community Center
Summit, New Jersey
This addition and alterations project, designed by Alexander Gorlin Architects, will feature a uniquely designed sanctuary structure, new multipurpose room, classrooms and kitchen. The project also consists of extensive site work including new parking lot, playground area and a new entrance into the facility.

Congregation B’Nai Israel
Millburn, NJ

This exciting project entails the addition and renovations to Congregation B’Nai Israel’s existing 18,000 square foot worship facility. Once completed, this project will provide the Congregation B’Nai Israel with a new entrance, lobby, social hall, kitchen and sanctuary.
