Devils.JPGNew Jersey Devils and New Jersey Ironmen Executive Offices
Newark, NJ

This fast track project consisted of the complete interior construction of the 18,000 square foot, four story office building attached to the Prudential Center Arena in Newark, and the interior construction of a 3,000 square foot tenant space located inside the Arena. The four story office building is occupied by the New Jersey Devils owners, coaches, executive management, and marketing personnel while the tenant space inside the Arena houses the executive management and coaches of the New Jersey Ironmen of the Xtreme Soccer League. The first elevated floor, which is occupied by the New Jersey Devils coaches, was completed in less than 4 weeks, while the balance of the project was completed in less than 8 weeks, including extensive high end furnishings and finishes.

Church of St. DenisChurch of St. Denis
Manasquan, NJ

This project was an addition and renovation to a historic church located in Manasquan, New Jersey. It consisted of extensive interior renovations including the reconfiguring of the existing Nave and Sanctuary area along with the replacement of all the interior finishes and MEP systems. The project also included a new addition which houses a gathering space and an exterior raised plaza which also serves as an outdoor gathering space. The new addition features exterior stone work to match the existing facade of this landmark church.

Franklin Commons
Franklin Township, NJ

We were brought on board by the Atkins Companies in the conceptual stage of this project in order to coordinate all governmental approvals required to commence construction and to provide a comprehensive budget for the development of this 10 acre site. Our services were retained to complete the construction of the project including extensive site work and the construction of two 10,800-square-foot retail strip malls and a 21,600-square-foot, two-story medical office building. Each of the stone clad strip malls have seven tenants and include large brick paved courtyards with seating, fountains and a clock tower. Our work at Franklin Commons has also included the tenant fit-out of La Bonbonniere Bake Shoppe, Franklin Park Liquors, Somerset Medical Offices and Franklin Family Eye Care.

Samsung Headquarters
Ridgefield Park, NJ

Phelps Construction Group completed the interior fit out of all the common areas for, The KABR Group, which owns the 235,000 square foot class A office tower at 85 Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. This office tower now serves as the North America headquarters for Samsung.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention Center and Removal Office
Newark, NJ

This fast track project consisted of a 44,000 square foot fit out in the Weston Building in Newark. The space is the headquarters of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention and Removal Office, a division of Homeland Security. The project included high end security construction including ballistic doors, windows, wall panels and a state of the art security and monitoring system.

Liberty Island
Working for the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation, Phelps Construction Group completed various site upgrades on Liberty Island. These upgrades included work to the Ferry Dock at Liberty Island, which serves as the entrance point to the nearly two million people who visit the Statue of Liberty National Monument each year. Work was also done to repair the granite and brick masonry site walls and aluminum fencing installed around the island. At the same time, Phelps Construction Group was contracted by the National Park Service to complete various upgrades to their Administration Building on Liberty Island.

Temple ShalomTemple Shalom
Roxbury, NJThis project entailed an addition and renovation to the existing 15,000-square-foot facility including extensive site work, a new main entrance, new Judaic study area, administrative offices, an expanded multi-purpose room, full service kitchen and the complete renovation of the existing sanctuary. The completion of this project was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by more than 100 members of the Temple and the Mayor of Roxbury in May 2011.

Beth Am Shalom Synagogue

Beth Am ShalomThis project, completed in August, 2010 consisted of the construction of a New 17,000 square foot Synagogue in Lakewood, New Jersey. The new Synagogue, designed by Spiezle Architectural Group, features a sanctuary, banquet hall, classrooms, library and staff offices.


Ellis IslandThe Peopling of America Center
Ellis Island

Phelps Construction Group was hired by the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation to manage the initial phase of the new Peopling of America Center at Ellis Island National Monument. This phase entailed the necessary hazardous material, environmental cleanup and demolition work required for the completion of the design of the new environmentally controlled storage space for artifacts. The existing artifacts storage space is used to house the new museum to tell the story of the millions of immigrants, past and present, who did not share the Ellis Island experience.

This project consisted of the demolition of an existing environmental natural resource lab and reconstruction into a computer lab. It also involved the expansion of the existing environmental natural resources server room.

This project consisted of the demolition of an existing Laboratory and the construction of the new Biology Laboratory at Nelson Hall on the campus of Rutgers University.

This high profile project included the renovations and fit out of conference rooms and the President’s dining room which was previously destroyed by fire. The President’s dining room features extensive high end millwork and finishes.

This fast track project involved the complete enclosure of an interior courtyard at the University Center Building and the fit-out of this space along with multiple adjacent areas. The Skyroom serves as a game room for the students, offering everything from traditional pool tables, ping pong and foosball, to a completed state of the art video gaming area featuring multiple wii stations. The Skyroom has become one of the main gathering centers for the students at Kean University.

Childtime Daycare Center
Franklin Township, NJ

Located in the lower level of the Franklin Commons Medical Office Building, this project is a 10,000-square-foot learning facility for Childtime Learning Center, a subsidiary of Learning Care Group, Inc. Childtime strives to create a home-like setting to foster the development of the whole child, offering services from child care to school-age education for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. The facility features classrooms, offices, a full service kitchen and an outside playground.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Freeman is the leading provider of integrated services for face-to-face marketing and brand building events, including expositions, conventions, corporate events, meetings and exhibit programs. Our project entailed the fit out of an existing warehouse, located in Kearney New Jersey, to house the new Offices for their Metropolitan New York branch location.

Boys and Girls ClubBoys and Girls Club of Northwest New Jersey Early Education Center

This exciting project entailed the addition of an early education center to the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest New Jersey. The addition consisted of new classrooms along with renovations to the existing facility. Also included in the project were extensive site upgrades including the addition of a new playground facility. Established in 1970, the Boys and Girls Club mission statement is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

This project entailed building a new lake pavilion on the northern shore of Spring Lake located at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. This two story facility, which is clad in a stone veneer and clapboard siding, features a commercial kitchen, bathrooms, life guard offices and a general purpose program space on the second floor.

Located in a registered historical building on Washington Place, this facility is the headquarters for Unite Newark. Unite Newark is the union that represents apparel and textile manufacturing workers, hotel and casino, food service and restaurant employees. The project consisted of the complete interior demolition and interior construction of this 20,000 square foot, four story building. This project achieved its goal of adaptively renovating this historic building to meet the needs of Unite Newark while enhancing the historic nature of the building.

New Jersey Nets Locker and Training Rooms
Prudential Center – Newark, NJ

This project consisted of the construction of the new locker rooms and training rooms for the New Jersey Nets at the Prudential Center in Newark. Previously playing at the Izod Center, the New Jersey Nets will be calling the Prudential Center home for the next two years before their anticipated move to Brooklyn.

Rutgers University Coaches Boxes Renovations
Rutgers Stadium – Piscataway, NJ

This project entailed the complete demolition and reconstruction of both the home and visitors coaches boxes at Rutgers Stadium. It was one of the first steps in moving forward with the complete renovation of Rutgers University’s Football Stadium.

Carlstadt, NJ

This project entailed the conversion of a 14 foot tall, single story office building into a 30 foot tall, single story refrigeration warehouse adjacent to the Carnegie Deli processing and production plant in Carlstadt, New Jersey. This project involved the demolition of all but the foundation and exterior walls of the existing office building and the construction of new foundations to support the structural steel frame for the raised roof structure. The construction of the new warehouse accommodates state of the art freezer and refrigeration systems. This project serves as the storage facility for the famous Carnegie Deli cheesecakes and pastramis.

Newark City Finance Building Renovation
Newark, NJ

Near the completion of the Prudential Center Arena, it was determined that the back of the Newark City Finance Building protruded into the roadway at the loading dock area of the Arena, preventing the video trucks from backing into the digital video bay of the Arena. We were contracted by the NJ Devils to partially demolish the back of the City Finance Building which was achieved in five days, including removing and reinstalling HVAC units. We also constructed a temporary bridge over the existing foundation so that the video trucks could get into the Arena while the new foundation wall was built. This project included the construction of a new ADA accessible bathroom and egress ramp.

Fletcher ThompsonFletcher Thompson Architecture
Franklin Township, NJ

Working on a fast track basis in partnership with the end user of this project, we performed the complete interior demolition and LEED certified interior construction of an existing 18,000 square foot office building in eight weeks. LEED certification provides an independent, third-party verification that a building project is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work. The completed office space serves as offices for the Architectural firm Fletcher Thompson.

YRC Logistics – Meridian IQ
South Kearny, NJ

We have completed three projects for YRC Logistics including a 5,000 square foot interior office space, inside an 80,900 square foot existing warehouse located at River Terminal Development in South Kearny. The completed project serves as offices for YRC Logistics, a leading provider of global logistic services. We have also completed numerous facility repairs and upgrades in their Jersey City facility.

Roxbury, NJ

This project entailed the construction of a 22,500 square foot warehouse addition composed of architectural precast wall panels and brick veneer. The warehouse interior includes loading dock bays and an ESFR sprinkler system to protect the 30 foot tall structure. The project also included a redevelopment of the site to allow for additional parking and construction of building pads for future expansion.

Uber Burger – Prudential Center

This Restaurant is located next to the Brick City Coffee Company on Lafayette Street under the VIP parking garage adjacent to the “Rock” at the Prudential Center in Downtown Newark home to the New Jersey Devils and the New Jersey Nets.

Mulberry Street Lounge – Prudential Center
Newark, NJ

This Lounge located inside the Prudential Center will serve as a pre and post game gathering place for VIP Nets ticket holders. The New Jersey Nets will be calling the Prudential Center home for the next two years before their anticipated move to Brooklyn.

George Weston Bakeries – Distribution Facility
South Kearny, NJ

Located within the River Terminal Development site, this project included the conversion of an existing 22,600 square foot office building into a distribution facility for George Weston Bakeries, the manufacturer of the most recognized baked goods including Stroehmans, Entenmanns, Thomas, and Freihofers.

Nearly the entire existing brick facade was removed to create 20 loading dock door openings. The work included typical warehouse interiors, and reconstruction of an existing parking lot including new concrete dolly pads, improved storm drainage systems, and electric engine block heaters.

This project consists of the fit-out of a State-of–the-Art outpatient rehabilitation facility. The facility will feature high end finishes and the latest in physical therapy equipment.



OPUS-ISM New Jersey Headquarters
Pine Brook, NJ

This project consisted of a 16,000 square foot interior office fit out which became the New Jersey Headquarters for OPUS-ISM. OPUS-ISM is a leading provider of pharmacy management systems to independent, chain, outpatient and institutional pharmacies. OPUS-ISM has been in business for over 20 years and currently has over 1,000 clients.

Grove Street Senior Citizens Housing Corporation
Orange, NJ

This project involved an Addition and Alterations to the Grove Street Senior Citizens Housing Corporation headquarters, the Center at Park Avenue. It consisted of the complete interior abatement, demolition and interior fit out of this three story structure. The project also includes building a new exterior stair tower, exterior façade upgrades and extensive site work.

Hudson Milestones
Jersey City, NJ

A not for profit organization Hudson Milestones seeks to build and maintain a Hudson County based organization dedicated to the care, support and advancement of people with developmental disabilities and their families towards achieving, to the maximum extent possible, the individual’s life goals and establishing self-sufficiency in the community. This project was the alterations to the existing Headquarters in Jersey City which provided Hudson Milestones new administrative space in which to run this exceptional not for profit organization.

Mediterranean North – Multi Unit Residential Renovation
Fort Lee, NJ

Mediterranean NorthPhelps Construction Group acted as the construction manager for this 23 story multi-unit residential co-op building, located at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge. We are managed several different projects including building a new postal center, storage area and community center on the first level. We completely renovated the entrance lobby along with all of the common corridors throughout the building. The existing HVAC system has been updated and a fire suppression system has been installed to all the common areas. Removing and replacing all of the exterior windows and doors to approximately 490 units was our most recently completed project at the co-op.

RSV Properties
Cedar Knolls, NJ

This renovation converted a 22,000 square-foot facility into medical office space. The building was previously occupied by Ranjit Corporation and Diamond Essence, a leading manufacturer of artificial diamond jewelry.
