February 9, 2012 – Governor Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Corey Booker joined Ron Beit of RBH Group to celebrate the groundbreaking of long-awaited Teachers Village at Four Corners. Phelps Construction is proud to start working on ‘Building Two’, a four-story 104,000 SF charter school building with first floor retail space. Just two blocks away from the Prudential Center at the corner of Halsey and William Street will rise seven more buildings including charter schools, apartments for teachers, and retail space in efforts to revitalize the City of Newark.
September 25, 2011 – The Summit Jewish Community Center celebrated the beginning of construction at their Ground Breaking Ceremony. This addition and alterations project, designed by Alexander Gorlin Architects, will feature a uniquely designed sanctuary structure, new multipurpose room, classrooms and kitchen. The project also consists of extensive site work including new parking lot, playground area and a new entrance into the facility.
September 8, 2011 – The global leader in clinical laboratory services, Quest Diagnostics, has awarded Phelps Construction Group the interior renovation of their 225,000 SF US laboratory headquarters located in Teterboro, NJ. Extensive improvements include upgraded lighting, flooring and wall finishes as well as a world-class entrance lobby and reception desk.

August 30, 2011 – Phelps Construction Group is incredibly proud to participate in the revitalization of the City of Newark, NJ. One of the nation’s major air, shipping, and rail hubs, Newark will soon be home to ‘Teachers Village at Four Corners’ (see above photos) -a major urban renewal project housing charter schools, apartments for educators and a new retail corridor. Phelps has been awarded the first project, ‘Building Two’, a four-story 104,000 SF charter school building with first floor retail space. This project is part of Newark’s greater plan to revitalize the city by bringing in new businesses along with 224 housing units to accommodate teachers in an effort to further improve area schools.
July 12, 2011 – Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has awarded Phelps Construction Group another exciting project. The Sonny A. Werblin Recreation Center and Livingston Recreation Center will be renovated within a four week schedule.
May 31, 2011 – The Archdiocese of Newark has chosen Phelps Construction Group to complete the renovation of the Saint Joseph’s High School Media Center in Montvale, New Jersey.

May 1, 2011 – Phelps Construction Group’s President Douglas Phelps and Vice President, Jeffrey Rainforth joined Temple members and other dignitaries for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Temple Shalom in Roxbury, New Jersey. Completed by Phelps Construction Group this project entailed the addition and renovation to their existing 15,000 SF facility. The project included extensive site work, a new main entrance and lobby, new Judaic study center and library, expanded multi-purpose room and a full service kitchen, new offices and a completely renovated sanctuary.
March 30, 2011 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the construction of Al and John, Inc.’s new 200,000 square foot meat processing facility in West Caldwell, New Jersey.
February 16, 2011 – Phelps Construction Group is proud to announce it has been chosen by the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. to work with them to complete the construction of The Peopling of America® Center at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. January 25, 2011 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded another project by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The latest project awarded to Phelps Construction Group is the Renovation of a research lab in the Nelson Hall Biology Building.
January 20, 2011 – The newly renovated Acela bar opened at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Constructed by Phelps Construction Group the bar is located inside the Arena and has become one of the premium fan destination inside the Arena for New Jersey Devils and Nets games.
December 20, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group Awarded 100th Project – With the Award of the general construction contract for the Congregation B’Nai Israel in Millburn, Phelps Construction Group has signed its 100th construction contract. This exciting project will provide the Congregation B’Nai Israel with a new entrance, lobby, social hall, kitchen and sanctuary.

November 23, 2010 – Uber Burger opened a new location in Newark, New Jersey. The Restaurant is located next to the Brick City Coffee Company on Lafayette Street under the VIP parking garage adjacent to the Prudential Center, home of the New Jersey Devils and Nets. Uber Burger will be another pre and post game fan destination constructed by Phelps Construction Group.
November 7, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the contract for the construction of the New Jersey Headquarters for OPUS-ISM in Pine Brook, New Jersey. OPUS-ISM is a leading provider of pharmacy management systems to independent, chain, outpatient and institutional pharmacies. OPUS-ISM has been in business for over 20 years and currently has over 1000 clients.

October 10, 2010 – The ground breaking ceremony (above) was held for the addition and renovations to the Church of Saint Mary in Rutherford. Phelps Construction Group’s President Douglas Phelps and Project Executive Craig Verhasselt joined Reverend Michael Kreder and other church dignitaries as they broke ground on this exciting project.
September 30, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group completed the new locker rooms and training rooms for the New Jersey Nets at the Prudential Center in Newark (below). The Nets will begin using these facilities when they open their preseason schedule against the Boston Celtics on October 7th. Previously playing at the Izod Center, the New Jersey Nets will be calling the Prudential Center home for the next two years before their anticipated move to Brooklyn.

September 1, 2010 – The Skyroom at the Kean University Center Building (pictured above) opened under rave reviews from both the University administration and the students. This fast track project involved the complete enclosure of an interior courtyard at the University Center Building and the fit-out this area along with multiple adjacent spaces. The Skyroom serves as a game room for the students, offering everything form traditional pool tables, ping pong and foosball, to a completed state of the art video gaming area featuring multiple wii stations. The Skyroom is quickly becoming a main gathering center for the students at Kean University.
August 5, 2010 – Hudson Milestones has awarded Phelps Construction Group the alterations to its headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey. A not for profit organization Hudson Milestones seeks to build and maintain a Hudson County based organization dedicated to the care, support and advancement of people with developmental disabilities and their families towards achieving, to the maximum extent possible, the individual’s life goals and establishing self-sufficiency in the community.
August 4, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the Addition and Alterations to the Church of Saint Mary in Rutherford, New Jersey. This exciting project consists of an addition which will house a gathering space and a new elevated entrance plaza. The interior of the church is being extensively renovated including the reconfiguration of the Nave and Sanctuary areas and the addition of new cedar ceilings and marble floors and walls. A new Steeple is also be added to the church.
August 2, 2010 – Construction was started by Phelps Construction Group on the new locker rooms for the New Jersey Nets at the Prudential Center in Newark. July 29, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the 44,000 square foot renovation of the Weston Building in Newark. Once completed, the space will be home to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention and Removal Office, a division of Homeland Security.
July 15, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has started construction on the fit out of the level two office space at the Prudential Center in Newark. Contracted by the New Jersey Devils, the space with be home to Devils Arena Entertainment.

May 23, 2010 – The ground breaking ceremony (above) was held for the Temple Shalom in Roxbury, New Jersey. The ceremony, which was attended by over a hundred members of the Temple and the Mayor of Roxbury, marked the start of construction on this project by Phelps Construction Group. The project entails an addition and renovations to the existing 15,000 SF facility including extensive site work, a new main entrance, expanded multi-purpose room and full service kitchen.
May 12, 2010 – RSV properties has awarded the renovation of their Cedar Knolls facility to Phelps Construction Group. The facility previously was home to Ranjit Corporation and Diamond Essence a leading manufacturer of artificial diamond jewelry. The facility is being completely renovated for future use as a Medical Office Building.
April 9, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the interior fit out of all the common areas, by The KABR Group, at its recently purchased 235,000 square foot class A office tower at 85 Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Once completed, it will serve as the New Jersey headquarters for Samsung.
March 11, 2010 – Kean University has awarded Phelps Construction Group the Sky Room project in its University Center Building. This fast track project involves the complete enclosure and fit-out of an interior courtyard. When completed, this new space and the surrounding rooms will serve as the Sky Lounge in the University Center.
March 5, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group completed its first project as a Licensed New York City Contractor at Madison Green on the corner of East 22nd Street and Broadway. This project (pictured below) entailed the complete renovation of a luxury high rise condo unit for the President and General Manager of the New Jersey Devils.

February 4, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the contract for the fit out of the new ProActive Sports Therapy Facility in Montclair, New Jersey. Scheduled to open in April, this State-of-the-Art outpatient rehab facility will feature high end finishes and the latest in physical therapy equipment.
January 29,2010 – Scheduled to open this spring, construction has started on the Brick City Burger in Newark. The Restaurant will be located next to the Brick City Coffee Company on Lafayette Street under the VIP parking garage adjacent to the “Rock”.
January 28, 2010 – Phelps Construction Group has been awarded the Addition and Alteration of the Grove Street Senior Citizens Housing Corporation in Orange, New Jersey. The Grove Street Senior Citizens Housing Corporation mission is to help to improve life in the urban community. Once completed, the new headquarters will be named the Centere at Park Avenue.
